Mission
The mission of the Madison Pipes and Drums is:
- To educate through programs that promote Celtic music and heritage
- To serve and support the community through charitable events and other functions
- To encourage fellowship and leadership while developing musical talent and excellence
Our mission statement is what we believe in. We plan our activities
according to our mission. To support our mission, we:
- Talk about the bagpipe and its music in our public performances
- Encourage band members to attend schools of piping and drumming
- Perform free of charge at the annual St. Andrews' Society Burns Dinner
- Perform free of charge at some public events, such as firemens' memorials and Madison Farmers' Market
- Schedule get-togethers outside of band practice
- Delegate responsibility for different areas
- Work hard at band rehearsal
- Compete at highland games as a band and as individuals
Someday we hope to expand even further by offering scholarships, supporting
the UW-Madison Program of Celtic Studies, and sponsoring competitions. Want
to help? Ideas on how to further our aims? Contact us about our mission.
